    Masa Harina (corn flour not corn meal) is available in most grocery stores with a Mexican cooking aisle.

    Chicken Enchilada Soup
    1Tbsp veggie oil
    1 lb chix breast
    1/2 cup onion
    1 clove garlic,pressed
    4 cups chix broth
    1 cup masa harina
    3 cups water
    1 cup enchilada sauce
    16 oz velveeta cheese
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp chili powder
    1/2 tsp cumin

    for garnish: shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled corn chips, pico de gallo

    1. Add 1 Tbsp oil to large pot over med. heat. Add chix broth to pot and brown for 4-5 mins per side. Set chix aside.

    2.Add onions and garlic to pot and saute over med. heat for about 2 minutes, or til onions begin to become translucent. Add chix broth.

    3.Combine masa harina with 2 cups of water in medium bowl and whisk til blended. Add masa mixture to pot with onions, garlic and broth.

    4.Add remaining water, enchilada sauce, cheese and spices to pot and bring mixture to a boil.

    5.Shred the chix into small, bite size pieces and add to pot. Reduce heat and simmer for 30-40 minutes or til thick.

    Oh, definitely from the same time period - good old fifties. I'm so sorry to hear of Newman's passing. They are so darn cute! I love to hear what they say! Mott the Hoople is a good name!

    Hey, Jangles. I love the bird thread and I go there a lot and must have missed the pictures of your birds the first time. Anyway, I was just looking at them and they are so cute. You mentioned that Newman, your budgie, talks. I was just wondering what kinds of things he says.
