Thanks for the invite Roger. I see your in Portland, Me too. I'm over by the University of Portland towards St. Johns. What neck of the woods are you?

Roger! So nice to hear from you. I have thought of you many times while I was on 'vacation' and hoped we would be in contact again. We would love to explore Lone Fir with you. Since our cities never seem to have drier weather (until July 5th!) we may just have to settle for warmer! I am glad to be back and happy to be posting with you.
  3. Actually, the points on the maple leaf don't stand for anything. When the design was under consideration, different versions were tested in a wind tunnel. It was discovered that a larger number of smaller points caused the edges of the leaf to blur when viewed from a distance as it flapped in the breeze.

Your mention of Mackenzie King brought up an old memory about him and spiritualism and an American woman he once considered marrying... will need more space for the whole story, though.

I think I remember something about the 11-points think from childhood. Something about the number of provinces (back then) and territories? And yeah the MLF was a cool anthem - I still prefer it to the new one. Here's another piece of trivia: The guy who wrote that song was Alexander Muir. He's buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery a few blocks from my place. He's just a few "doors" down from Mackenzie King, one of our most eccentric and most popular prime ministers. He used to consult psychics, and was convinced he could communicate with his dead mother.
Working Canada Day was a bity of a pain, but at least I didn't have to deal with crowds out for parades and stuff.
Hope your Fourth of July was happy and safe!

Very cool!! How I could I be a middle aged person and NOT know about this!! Oh well!!
I loved the pictures of the casket just open and the dusty violin. You are right, it looks just like people up and walked away. BTW...I smile every time I see your rotary dial phone!!
