It's slowly creeping up here also, public transportation is almost nonexistent here except on the main arteries, people are forced to drive.I remember the gas shortages and gas rationing of the 70's,with alternate day's for getting fuel,( Odd & Even plate numbers) back then there was an uproar when gas went from $.34 a gallon to over a dollar! News papers, television news were all over the governments actions and response, and that of the President! Now,the media is strangely silent, our President does nothing! ....we are forced to eat these prices!

As of today, the local average is $3.85, up by three cents overnight.

OMG...that sure makes the Houston, TX price of $3.91 per gallon seem reasonable. No matter, these high prices everywhere in the world are outrageous.

Right now it's right around $3.67 for regular.
I have a question for all.
Around here if you want let's say $5 worth of gas and you give them a $10 or a $20 bill they tend to almost get violent with you.
One time me and some gas station guy and I almost got into it because I gave him a $10 bill which was a little dirty and he refused to take it.
Is this only a Jersey thing?
BTW another guy starts screaming at you if you ask for gas without saying please and thank you when you make your request.
Some gas station attendants will only come out quickly if an attractive female is in the car. If you're a guy they usually make you wait.

$3.82 but I gas up at a supermarket that gives you $.10 off a gallon with their shopper card. However, I just found out I have to drive over to California on Friday. At least 35 mpg means I can skip the over priced and watered down gas in Blythe.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Exxon Mobil Corp. said Thursday that its first-quarter profit climbed 69% to almost $11 billon, beating Wall Street estimates, as $100-a-barrel crude prices boosted the oil company’s bottom line to levels not seen since 2008.

I paid $4.25/gallon for 89 octane in Downey, California. Which is literally within the shadows of all the major refineries. I do not understand why gas would still be so expensive for us.

Also, with soaring gas prices we are shelling out lots more taxes, so I am wondering where all the extra tax dollars are going. Does anyone know?

Geeky, our state requires a corn additive to be put into california gas. Its an anti polution thing. This is why california gas cost more then anywhere else in the lower 48 states. Only exception is hawaii. Match that with the extra 60 cent state gas tax and the federal gas tax of 70 cents is why gas is high. Every time you see diesel fuel rise, you'll pay more for your gas too. Plus the fact your dollar is depreciating daily with all the money our president is just printing out of thin air. Concord is 2 mies from 6 major oil refineres Also btw.

    Hope this helps you.

I just paid 4.84 a gallon for super at the Union 76 station at 16th and Van Ness AVENUE in San Francisco.

GOP congress unanimously votes to keep big oil subsides. More corporate welfare.

The whole subsidy issue needs to be re-visited in it's entirety. There is no legitimate reason to give big oil any particular tax break without the benefit of the tax break going right back to the people.

The oil companies were given subsidies to help them with domestic production. Are they doing that? Can they do that with the drilling moratoriums? If they are nothing more than a delivery systems than there should be no subsidies. Maybe suspend the subsidies until they use them for their intended purpose.

The issue is a little more complicated than the GOP allowing the big oil companies to hose the american tax payer but I will tell you that researching the subject only brings up storys that say just that.

If it isn't true, how come I can't find any stories supporting the subsidies on conservative sites?

We stopped to put gas in our work car on the way home and it was $3.99 a gallon. It costed $36.00 to fill up a Dodge Neon from a quarter tank. Between putting gas in the vehicles and paying more for groceries every week, we never have any extra money. It sucks!
