I think those are the two most plausible theories. I can't think of why else they would keep them around. I don't know that I think it is any more sinister than that. I think that perhaps if it is the "family member" angle, that is why they would keep it a secret from Rick's group, so someone wouldn't go off and just kill them (*AHEM* Andrea). It may even be a combination of both reasons.

Also, last night when Glenn asked if anyone could play guitar, I laughed and said "Otis could" about 2 seconds before the wife said it. lol.

Didn't Hershel say something in a previous episode about hope? That humanity bounces back. I forgot the exact words. Was that him? Am I imagining things? lol Maybe he hopes that there will be a cure and his family members will be back to normal again.

I really loved the scene between Sofia's mother and Daryl. She was very sweet to him. Clearly, seeing his brother is symbolic of the bad side of Daryl battling with the good Daryl (okay so now I'm over thinking things
    ).
If you remember when he first appeared Hershel was confident there would be a cure but Rick disagreed. I may be wrong but I'm leaning toward family members. The way I see it, if several of your family contracted some virus that turned them into monsters would you just kill them? Maybe some would, but others would find a way to corral them until a cure was found.

Question: To keep the barn secret, will Maggie feed Glynn to the walkers?

You're right, Cindy. Especially since they are so isolated, they may not know how bad it really is.

Maybe they are deliberately ignorant of the reality.

That is an interesting thought, Cindyt, Maggie throwing Glenn to the walkers. Poor Glenn! He finally gets the girl and God only knows what is going to happen to him (by either Maggie or her father).

So, does anyone think Sofia will be found?

Another thing I wondered about, maybe someone who read the novels could explain, at the beginning of last night's ep, they show helicopters napalming a city, so how was the military unable to destroy the walkers?

I don't think napalming the walkers will kill enough of them to make a difference. I just started watching a few episodes ago, so could someone explain how they figured out that it would take destroying the brain to kill the walkers. Would burning them even kill them?

I think Lori is going to ask the vet/doc for an abortion. She already talked about letting Carl die and her sitting there crying by his bed-side, pretty much clinched it for me. She doesn't want to bring a baby into this mess. Add to that it's probably Shane's (Good Lord that man is cut and gorgeous) and there is no way for this to turn out well for any of those three.

I can only wonder how the heck Sophia is still alive. If she strayed away from the creek, she would have no water. Also, what child that age would know what to eat in the forest? If she's still alive, she must have been found by another group of survivors. No way she has survived on her own.

Agreed. I don't think she will be a walker, but she is either dead or with another group.

I didn't even think about her having an abortion! IMHO there is no way she will have the baby. It just wouldn't fit in.

I think it was too little too late. Even if they had destroyed the walkers in the city there would still be thousands of others.

I think burning them would just maim them, not kill. IDK if they explained how they found out about the head thing.. I just remember the black guy telling Rick that when they first met, but again I don't know if it was ever announced or if people just figured it out. Speaking of that guy where is he????

I can't figure Dale and Andrea out at all. Does he have a crush on her or is he just being fatherly to her? It's hard to tell. Either way, she treats poor Dale like sh#$.

I still wonder if T-Dog is going to turn? He just acted too odd after he cut his arm during the herd of walkers. I wondered if he got walker juice in his wound and now he's going to become one?

Why on earth would they keep them in there? In case there was a "cure"? Crazy.
Yes that's my main question, why are they keeping the walkers in the barn? I haven't been on FAD boards in a week so I'm just reading the comments for last weeks episode. I thought they had Sophia in the barn but now we know different. I think the old man may have extreme religious reservations about "killing" the walkers. I don't think Glenn's going to be keeping that a secret just to keep the girl- he's too smart. Oh well, guess alot of sh*t's going to have to go down next week.

Has anyone seen the new Walking Dead action figures? So far I've only seen 4, Rick, Daryl (with a bow of course) and two zombies. I guess Shane is too hot for an action figure right now. The manufacturers are probably trying to figure out a way to make a Shane doll without being pornographic LOL

Awesome!! Love the details on Daryl. They really captured his character perfectly. I wonder when Robot Chicken is going to start using those action figures on the show?

SO.. I have a picture of a very big spoiler but I'm not going to spill it here on the forums... BUT ... here is a link for a photobucket picture. Also, the source of this is supposedly the same source as the bean spiller for Breaking Bad's explosive season ending. ... OKAY SO HERE IT IS AND DON'T BITCH IF YOU OPEN IT AND ARE SPOILED

ALso, in the graphic novel, Hershel thought they could be saved or cured. He's not a vet in the novel, but he was a Christian fellow. I know making him a doctor in this helped save the boy's life, but it is silly really for a vet /doctor to think a rotting piece of flesh could be cured but whatever.

I really encourage you all to at least read some of the actual comic series. You can now buy volumes of several novels together so you can catch up.

Andrea is nothing like this. She's amazing in the comic. I just hope they are making her out to be such a dipshit so we can see this amazing transformation soon. Lord, I hope so.

I love this Maggie so much better than the one in the comic. I love her and Glenn together. They are so important as they bring hope and stability to the story.

Lori is pretty much a twat like that in the comic, but I really did feel for her with her pants around her ankles, crying in that field. Not a good spot to be in, but she loves to complain and criticize everyone else.

Shane is a much more developed character and for the better. Darryl doesn't even exist or Merle. It's hard to look at the lead guy and think of Rick in the comic. He's a different type of Rick. I like him, but he's going to change and you can see it coming.

Everyone in this show is human and makes a lot of mistakes.

I have watched this show from the beginning and after catching up on the episodes last night I must say I am not as into it as I was. It almost seems like there are no female writers for the show, like it is men writing lines for women and creating women characters that have no depth. I think Maggie is the only woman I like so far. I think the show would have improved 100% if Andrea would have turned the gun on Lori and then herself. If I have to listen to either of them talk anymore I am going to shoot my TV! Andrea is a moron and the way they foreshadowed her shooting accident was ridiculous. Lori has never used good sense about anything on any of the episodes, UGHHHHh I just want to slap her.

Daryl is about the only thing keeping me interested. I must say if I was the old guy with the farm, I would want those people off of my property too. They are reckless and careless and they never think about anything ahead of time.

You're right. They do need some depth to those female characters. The comic did though which is funny that Kirkland has them so bland in the show. I can't wait for Michonne. I'm not a comic book person, but I started because of the Walking Dead and the female characters were a big part of that.

haha I managed to wait a couple of days before I clicked. It wasn't that shocking. It didn't affect anything on the show for me. Of course, it's up to you whether or not you want to click. No pressure!

If it has something to do with something horrid happening to Andrea or Lori, I'm cool with that.

Im hoping Andrea gets it next. She has been annoying my ass off on every episode. But if I had to predict who gets it next, its Shane. Sorry ladies. I think there is going to be a big battle next episode that will end with them finally leaving the farm. I also think that the missing little girl is one of the walkers in the barn. Herschel is holding out for a cure for them, his religion is trumping his scientific reasoning.

My main question that has been bugging me is what the Dr. at the CDC whispered in Ricks ear before they left. Did he tell Rick Lori is pregnant? They all took blood test. Maybe he told Rick about Shane's meltdown with Lori. The whole place had cameras. Another theory I have is that when Shane went to get Rick out of the hospital, he didnt hear his heart and presumed him dead. Maybe he did die and is a Walker that got full use of their brain again. I over think things too much, hahaha. Awesome show.

Yeah, maybe he did tell Rick that she's pregnant. But why didn't he say anything? I think this coming episode is going to be great. I suspect there will be lots of zombie killing from the barn! Two more episodes until the hiatus. Then we have to wait until February for the rest of the episodes. Ugh! I don't like that at all!

We don't know yet. We might find out tonight since it seems as if they opened up the barn in the previews.

Spoiler alert if you're on the west coast or just haven't watched the new episode yet!

I thought this night's episode was great! I thought it was pretty sweet what Maggie said to Glenn after she kissed him. Aww, she cares about him! And can I say how much I freakin' heart Glenn??? He's hilarious, caring, sweet, brave, goofy and awesome!! That scene with Andrea and Shane in the car was so unexpected. I guess all the adrenaline from killing zombies made her a randy girl rofl.

In the preview, Carol talks about how they might not even find Sophia and that she doesn't want to lose Daryl. I really hope they don't hook up. That would just be WEIRD. Next week is the mid-season finale. Already! Ahh!! I hope we find out what happened to Sophia.

I couldn't believe the censors allowed that first part of the scene in the car. It was a good epi for the gore folks and the drama folks. Can't wait until next week!

    *SPOILERS*

I liked this episode, as well. Some enjoyable character drama with fun zombie action. Glenn is one of my favorite characters, and I was glad he was used a bit in this episode. I found myself let out an audible "Damn!" when Andrea grabbed Shane in the crotch. Also, the confrontation between Shane and the Dale is likely to stir things up a bit.

Also, I don't think Jenner whispered to Rick that Lori was pregnant because of Rick's reaction to finding the Morning After pills. Who knows what he said to him.

That episode cleared up something's. Now I'm thinking Jenner told Rick about Shane. Didn't Rick say he knew when Lori came clean? Maybe Rick whacks Shane in the next episode.

If you do find out that girl is a zombie, tell me lol. I dont care if it's a spoiler. She should have waited as Rick told her too but NO she ran!

I don't think that's what Jenner said to Rick. I think he means he knows and understands what situation she was in. She thought he was dead and wasn't coming back. How would Jenner know about Shane and Lori? Maybe he just simply said good luck to Rick. Or maybe he told Rick there's another facility somewhere. Or maybe Rick is immune to zombieness! lol Just kidding about the last one.

Andrea and Shane are what fiction writers call Human Conflict. They annoy and are bad ass to balance the likable characters and to spice things up, make the reader/watcher wonder what they are going to do or what's going to happen to them next. Without these human conflicts things would be awfully boring. To me, annoying is better than boring. And maybe she bores you, but not me. I don't like her, and I don't like Shane, though he is one hawt hunka man meat. Rick looks like death warmed over so JefeStone may be right about him. Lol.

The CDC had cameras and microphones everywhere. Jenner could hear everything that went on. Remember shane going crazy and practically raping Lori in the activity room?

So I've been reading recaps online and I guess I totally misunderstood what Rick said about Lori's relationship with Shane. I didn't get from that scene that he already knew. I thought he just meant he understood. If that's what Jenner whispered to Rick, that's kind of disappointing. I was expecting something more interesting and useful.

I am reading Book I of the graphic novel, which covers Rick getting shot and waking up to they reach Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia (where my dad did his army boot camp during the Korean War.) What a fucking surprise that is--or maybe you can guess.

The book is a bit different than the TV series. Big shocker about Shane's fate in the book and I don't know if the TV series will follow that story line because it has already happened but the results weren't the same. Carl and Sophia are younger. I am a little more than half way through it. Carl was shot by Otis--they go to the farm--but is up and about soon after, so Shane and Otis do not go to the school for medical supplies; Otis is still alive; Sophia is still there. Oh, and Lori just comes out and tells Rick she's pregnant--no morning after pills or vites.

Book is black and white with certain focuses of red. There's a short story at the end, and then there are several pages of character sketches.

Kirkman says in the book that he loves zombie movies and catches every one that comes out but he also hates every one of them because they all end with the survivors being rescued, then The End. He always wants to know how they soldiered on with no end in sight. Of course there has to be an end, because no one is going to sit in a movie theater or in front of a TV screen 24/7. But it can be written with no end via ceaseless continuation in comics. So he began his never-ending zombie tale, The Walking Dead.

I'll let you know about other differences between book and TV series if you want. There's about six books all told to date and I don't know if I will buy them all. Book II is over $20. I have the money but I do not know if I want a collection of books I probably won't read but the once.

I love Glenn even more after last week's ep (only just saw it today). He is such a sweet, good man.

I would agree, Daryl and Carol......eeeeeuuuuuwwww. I hope it's just a motherly affection she's developed for Daryl, not a cougar situation. LOL.

The only thing about the show that has bugged me this season is they've dragged this Sophia thing out way too long. It's gotten to the point where I've forgotten about her, until they mention going to look for her then I think "Oh yeah, that kid is missing."

Lori is still a b$@#ch. LOL. Guess that's not going to change any time soon, but I liked how Maggie told her off. It's about time somebody did.

haha I know. PLEASE no cougar situation. I really do hope they get this whole Sophia thing done with on Sunday. It seriously has been way too long. And frankly, not finding her after all this time doesn't bode well.

Andrea and Shane's car moment was good, when she grabbed him and well jumped him - I was like go for it ! I think Dale wants Andrea for himself, he seemed jealous at the end of last night's show. Roll on next week to see if that girl is in the barn!
