Interesting that you should mention that. The latest news reports are hinting that steroids were found in his home. Supposedly her iPad, also found in his bedroom, is also a crucial item of evidence as it contains messages exchanged between her and a South African rugby star that may have sent the blade man into a jealous rage.

Oscar told police the steroids belonged to a friend and he was looking after them! Oh come on man, own up and man up. I can't believe he still thinks he believed it was a burglar. The bed was slept in, her over night bag and IPAD were in the bedroom. He killed Reeva but acts still like he made a mistake. Man up you idiot. Seeing Reeva's coffin with her family and friends on the news was so heartbreaking. Maybe Oscar and his family could show they care Reeva is dead and her family are ripped apart? If I hear one more news report of his family asking people to pray for Oscar.........I will scream!

What about the bloodied cricket bat that police have reportedly found in his home?

Neighbours said they heard an argument coming from the house at around 1.30am. Four shots were heard at 3.20am, reportedly with some time in between them.
Another theory is that the first shot, in the bedroom, hit her in the hip. She then ran and locked herself in the toilet. "She was doubled over because of the pain. He fired three more shots. She probably covered her head, which is why the bullet also went through her hand."
    http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/news/newss...th-cricket-bat

According to Pistorius, during his bail application,
He and Steenkamp got into bed and they fell asleep. He kept a 9mm firearm under his bed.
He said intruders were in the toilet. He heard a noise and was “filled with horror and fear”.
He heard someone in the bathroom.
“As I didn’t have my prosthetic legs on I was vulnerable,” the affidavit continued.
“I fired a shot at the toilet door and shouted to Reeva to call the police,” he said.
“I felt extremely vulnerable as I didn’t have my prosthetic legs on and knew I had to protect myself and Reeva,” the affidavit continued.
“When I reached the bed, I realised Reeva wasn’t in the bed.”
He said he tried to open the bathroom door, but it was locked, and went to the balcony to scream for help.
He put “on” his legs, and broke the door open with a cricket bat, got a key and opened it.
“Reeva was slumped over but alive.”
He carried her downstairs to take her to hospital and a doctor in the complex arrived.

Huh, I guess if someone breaks into your house they use the bathroom. Start shooting without checking to see if she is still in the bed....right.

Oscar is one of my all time heroes- was in shock when this broke. I don't believe for a second it was premeditated murder, the SA police are ludicrous at times. Corruption is rife. Reading his statement that was read to the court was heartbreaking. I think the police are taking a big gamble charging him with premeditation though. If they can't prove that, the case would surely be dismissed?

It sounds as if the magistrate was unimpressed with the waterworks again today. Perhaps it's time to try another tactic while in court:

So is South Africa's judicial system so corrupt that the Judge (who will be making the decision about Oscar's fate) can be bribed by Oscar's money? It seems awfully random to have just one judge issue a decision. Although he has 2 civilian consultants - he is not bound to abide by their opinions. The ruling will be his alone. Wild.

Prosecutors want to lay an additional charge of having illegal weapons, plus they found two boxes of testosterone and a needle. A witness said there was non stop screaming and yelling coming from the house before the shooting.

Now the lead investigator has attempted murder charges against him? How weird is this going to get? I also heard this morning on the news that if he were to get bail, the prosecutors are worried about him intimidating witnesses. I don't know which witnesses they are concerned for, but I do know I would do everything possible to not have my ass kicked by Blade Runner. That sounds like about the most painful thing ever.

Oh this just gets better and better. Lead Investigator charged with attempted murder. Apparently he and a few cop pals got drunk and shot up a vehicle with 7 people in it. One count for each person. This was 4 years ago and they're just charging him now??

Wow, this is the first bail hearing I've ever heard of that goes on for 3+ days.

Stay tuned - we may see that dramatic low-speed chase yet.

If we're going to go with Vangelis, I think something from the Blade Runner soundtrack would be more appropriate.

This is the news media we are discussing-both your choice and MM's are far too subtle. We all know if it's running in slo-mo, it's Chariots of Fire, period.

Can we at least slip in a few seconds of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light"?

"Cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night . . ." would be enough.

    Springsteen? Can we go with:

"Tramps like us, baby we were born to run"

and when they capture him, they can play the "whoa-oh-oh-oh-ohoh" part? I could handle that.

I was watching the BBC coverage. I'm not surprised he made bail. But what a long-winded announcement from the magistrate!

I have no idea what went down in his bedroom that night, but I don't really think it was 'premeditated'. To me, that means he plotted it out way in advance, and lured Reeva there specifically to murder her. It may mean something in a South African court of law, however. I think it was a spur-of-the-moment anger thing.

Is anyone else surprised that they speak English in the South African courts?

Not surprised at all since they have eleven official languages and English is one of them.

I'm not surprised he was granted bail at all. As far as him being a flight risk goes, my instructors always told me "You have to crawl before you can walk, before you can run, before you can fly." He needed some outside help to get through the first three and I think most of his endorsements have been dropped.

I think I need to take a crash course in Afrikaans, although that is going to really screw me up later if I ever do get around to learning proper Dutch. That would kind of be like learning Pennsylvania Deutsch first and the proper High German.
Just once in my life, I'd like to interpret for a bail hearing that lasts four days. I've never worked a murder trial, but I've had drug cases that didn't last that long.

I was just reading the Daily Mail today (Sunday UK ).It says Reeva's parents viewed her body and her head was smashed in .Surely that's enough proof when it goes to trial, that he killed her deliberately and the intruder story is just crap.

Who fires at an intruder SAT on a toilet anyway ?
Whichever ways it swings- he killed that girl .I hope his fame and lame excuses don't get him off.

Ok, I've been looking at this photo, and all of the shots are directed at the toilet. Now, if this were an intruder, or several people as he states... Why would they all be huddled over the toilet? Did he fire any shots pointed in other directions into the room? Wouldn't an intruder try to hide behind something, in this case it would be the vanity... All of the shots are clearly directed as if someone (one person) were sitting on the toilet.

Had dinner with a South African friend. He said that the population is in a constant state of paranoia about home invasions, as it is way way beyond epidemic proportions. He thinks that to date, nobody outside South Africa has no appreciation as to how bad the problem is over there. To a lot of locals, the context of the shooting is not remarkable in the least.

You would think, I would bet if you got close enough to hit someone in the head with a cricket bat, you would have identified the person as your girlfriend.

He would have been better off putting a weapon near her body and claiming self defense. Oh yeah, right, she was sitting on a toilet, not the most menacing of postures for an intruder.
