I'm surprised it took this long for it to be reported but his ex Mayte is bringing out a book about him promising it will be a 'initimate memoir' about her time with him or in otherwords, 'I might be able to get some money from this'.

I came into this world kicking and screaming while covered in someone else's blood and I have no problem with going out the same way.

Wow. Now that you say that, that is rather odd.

I wonder if he even knew he actually had fentanyl instead of hydrocodone.

I especially liked the part where she claims to have co-written "I would die 4 U" might as well go for that publishing cash too.

Prince and I broke up because I couldn't stand his writing song titles with numbers, little did I know he was ahead of his time, writing in cell phone texting language.

Oh and he always had me dress down so he could be the pretty one.

I wrote "When Doves Cry," dried my tears, packed my bags, caught the first bus out Minneapolis, and I never looked back.

oh good grief! This is the SAME woman who made headlines when she claimed she was the mother of Michael Jackson's kids. Good to see your still alive, Claire. *shakes head

Not making fun here but Claire is truly mentally ill.

It's ok. I think we all can agree Claire is nuts. The crazies, media and lawyers will be picking his bones for years. Like they do with all celebrities that pass.

Did anyone read last week's People? Apparently Prince had been on drugs for a long time. It's still so strange to me that he's dead. I really liked his music. Super talented, but strange guy. It's sad. What a waste.

It just sucks. I was a huge Prince fan and it really sucks to lose such a tremendous talent. I have no doubt he was in a lot of pain from his hips, maybe even his knees and ankles. I just wish there was someone who could have reeled him in from going overboard with the pain killers.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some criminal charges filed in this case. Opiate addiction is at an all time record, and Dr's are monitoring every single pill prescribed (and MOST are very reluctant to prescribe these days) to see if there's an indication of abuse. Kinda hard to do when it's in someone else's name, which translates into "someone needs to be made an example of", so yeah, there's that...

It's amazing what doctors will do for celebrities. The sad thing is we don't know if this is the only doctor he was going to and if this was the only friends name they were putting on prescriptions. We the MN RX monitoring/reporting system here but how is that gonna help with things in different names. If he had another doctor he went to and got meds in his name that'd be maybe the only innocent one, because even if he looked him up he wouldn't see all these prescriptions he was getting since they were in a different name, possibly names. Not to mention he probably knows people who can get him stuff if needed and he definitely had the money. I have a friend who deals pills and they are in high demand, she can't get them fast enough, I don't know how people get these prescriptions to sell, it kind of pisses me off I get a legit rx and I'm always under scrutiny and that's fine with me, but what are these other doctors doing? One person gets like 360 pills a month, my insurance wouldn't even cover that much if I did get it prescribed, they have a limit of 150 a month for all controlled substances total. But anyway, I'm just saying it's a huge problem here and all over the country and it looks like someone was finally trying to do something about it (plus didn't he have the subuxone doctor there, or coming the next day) but they were a little too late.

My brother in law had knee replacement surgery last week - the doctor gave him two weeks of Vicodin and told him there will be no repeats - expects him to be drug free in two weeks. Really strict here in Canada with the prescription opioids.

I've seen it go too far the other way. A friend had major surgery and they give them a Tylenol with codeine then Ibuprofen. This was for a knee replacement! He was in such agony. There IS a use for opiates. They just don't need to be freely given out to everyone who has an ache or pain. It should be used for severe pain for a limited amount of time.

If we had a system in place where one can't Dr shop, I think this would curb a lot of the abuse. If you got Oxy's prescribed in Florida, and then go to another Dr in Washington State, they should be able to pull up your record and find that you were prescribed that same drug a week ago in Florida. But it's not in place, not sure if Big Pharma has something to do with it, but certainly we have the capability to do so, so why don't we? I think it would save a lot more lives...

Okay, so I haven't been on these boards in a few years, and I know I'm preeetty late posting these, but I was surprised to find there weren't any photos of Paisley Park in this thread. I went down there the night he died and took a few, so I hope you guys like them:

Beautiful photos, lemmy! Thanks for sharing, and don't be a stranger.
