A member posted this on FB. It used to be you were safe in church. Not anymore. There's a special place in hell for these pieces of shit.

The county commissioner was on CNN and said he heard 27 dead. Not confirmed.

Fox says 20 to 24 dead

Ich says 20. He lives in Texas. He should know. Besides that, the body count may have went up since he posted on FB

Mass murder is horrific where ever it happens, but in a house of worship is unconscionable.

    Damn.
What kind of motive could you have for attacking a church?

I saw a news ticker that said the victims ranged in age from 5 to 72.
    Damn.

What happened to the church shooting thread??

I never saw a thread disappear before...

It may have gotten too politicized. I can't scroll fast enough on FB when a post about it shows up.

    It's a conspiracy.
Another one - name some names, Cindy.

It seems that the guy was no stranger to domestic disputes or violent behavior.

Damn - you get mad at your mother in law and go kill a bunch of uninvolved people at a church service.
That's as bad as attacking a day care center or a retirement home.

    It's true then.
Just like that other conspiracy - the one about, well; I can't think of one right off the top of my head; but it's like that other one.

This one disturbs me more than the Las Vegas shooting. In that one, the victims didn't really know each other.

In this one, we have two married couples killed, and one family lost 8 people from 3 generations. A guy lost his father, mother, brother, pregnant wife, a 17 month-old niece and 3 (step)children.

How do you even start to grieve something like that?

Their regular pastor was out of town, but his 14 year-old daughter went to the service and was killed.

What is going on in this world. I don't get it, the Vegas Shooting, the guy in New York running over people, the walmart shooting and now this.

The Air Force really screwed this up. They did not report the reason behind his DD. If they had done what the are required by law to do, he would not have been able to legally buy a weapon. This guy was a jagoff from the get go. I just can't wrap my head around having that much rage in you that you can do something like this.

Seems that the guy escaped from a mental institution in 2012.
Was arrested trying to smuggle weapons onto a base to "carry out death threats against the command".

Death threats to his commanders, beating his wife, beating his stepson - ass was even charged with animal cruelty for abusing his dog.

Why was this psycho walking around loose?

    Yeah - that too.

I want to know a little more about that.
If he had documented mental issues and violent behavior he shouldn't have been able to purchase weapons legally.
Doing it on the street would have been easy enough but not through a dealer.

I'm wondering if it was a "military thing" - if his history somehow didn't follow him back into civilian life.

From what I've read thus far, there appears to have been a paperwork disconnect between his dishonorable discharge and his transition to civilian life. NPR referred to it as 'human error.' I have no doubt it was an honest mistake, but shouldn't there be a whole bunch of safeguards against someone slipping through the crack like that?

Even the NRA says there are about 7 million records missing from the database. They've considered overhauling the system but it would be cost prohibitive.

Cost prohibitive compared to what - not preventing mass murder?
I just saw a story about they guy's ex-wife - the one he beat up and mother of the child he also beat severely.
She says that she lived in constant fear and that he had threatened her life.

I also read a day or two ago that an Air Force buddy said the guy used dogs for target practice.

People who hurt or kill animals like that, there's a big red flag IMHO. (Aside from the obvious things he did to people.)
