I found this link this morning while checking out one of Scott's videos on YouTube. I have no idea if it has been posted before so apologies if it has, but Mariska at 2 years old is adorable

As much as I love Mariska Hargitay, I feel that Jayne Marie Mansfield gets short shrift. Granted, she has chosen a private life and good on her.

It just bugs me when I see photos of Jayne and a young girl on Facebook groups like Tragic Hollywood: Beautiful, Glamorous and Dead and everyone says "That's Mariska!" Actually, most photos you see of Jayne with a young girl are of Jayne Marie, not Mariska. Mariska was 3 1/2 when Jayne died, and relatively speaking there are fewer photos of her with Jayne.

When Jayne was starring in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? on Broadway, she and Jayne Marie were pretty much all the other one had. By all accounts, they were very close. There was some distancing and difficulties when Jayne Marie became a teenager; Jayne was having financial difficulties and was embroiled in a relationship with that dirtbag, Sam Brody.

My little rant being over, here is a fairly rare current (November, 2013) photo of Jayne Marie Mansfield (with Mariska). Jayne Marie also favors her mother in some ways.

I was a very young kid in 1967, but I do remember that wigs were actually very popular. Lots of the younger moms in the nabe had two or three, plus wiglets. It was kind of a fun thing, not that they needed wigs or wore them all the time. My mom was one of the few who wasn't interested.

At that event in November 2013, Jayne Marie appeared terribly uncomfortable with Marissa's constant hugging and kissing, to the point where it was clear to me that it was a show put on by Mariska that Jayne was unaware was going to happen.

Also to note, Jayne Marie not only resembles her mother much more so in features, but in size as well. Jayne Marie took on her mothers small size and tiny waist. Mariska took so much more after her father in the size department (be it Mickey, or more likely, Sardelli).

The boys are never spoken of (Mickey Jr, Zolton and Tony Cimber) almost as if they never existed. Jayne was still married to Matt Cimber at the time of her death, although living with her divorce lawyer, Sam Brody (who perished in the crash as well).

The boys, more so than Jayne Marie have really kept out of the spotlight which is probably good for them. Her youngest Tony, is just three years younger than I.

Also to note, (and this has probably been mentioned), but Jayne Maries paternity has always been in question, it is doubtful that Paul Mansfield (Jaynes first husband) was Jayne Maries father.

    Lisa:

I wrote an article about Jayne's childhood home in Phillipsburg, PA; she and her mother and father were living there when her father died after having a heart attack while driving the family around town. I'm not sure of the accuracy of this, but it's the best I can find. I'm still kinda researching it. Anyway, when the article was published on a local Patch news site, I reached out to Miklos & Zoltan on FB and sent them a link to the article. Both responded kindly and thanked me for writing about their mother - made my day.

If I thought I had a snowball's chance, I'd love to write a serious book about Jayne. Except for Martha Saxon's Jayne Mansfield and the American Fifties, the other books about Jayne are pretty much sensationalist crap. I wish someone like Barbara Leaming - who wrote If This Was Happiness about Rita Hayworth or Suzanne Finstad, who wrote Natasha about Natalie Wood - would tackle it.

Jayne was an excellent comedienne and a pretty good actress when given the chance. She was also a devoted mother and a hard-working breadwinner for a large family. I think her ascent - and descent - during the 50s and 60s pretty much followed the social and sexual changes of those decades. I think it's a shame that her talent and story has been overshadowed by the circumstances of her death.

Photo of Jayne and Bob Hope, circa 1959, from the LA Times' archives:

Casper, I love you so much baby boy... waking up with you in the house is a blessing every day! Thank you for filling our home and hearts with so much love, joy, laughter and ever so sweet Sammy smiles! We belong together! XOXOX

I agree, but it was a photo op for Mariska, and she knew it. In all the reports on it the boys were not even mentioned, or were identified as friends ! I've seen a couple of pics of Tony Cimber, he does resemble Jayne to some extent. I wonder if he has a relationship with his half siblings, my guess would be probably not.

Here is some ultra rare footage of Jayne at her final New Year celebration with Sam, Miklos and Mariska (I guess Jayne Marie would have done her own thing being 16, Zoltan was still in recovery from the Lion attack and maybe Tony was considered too small to bring with, or maybe he was spending the holiday with his Dad.)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK9lItCfJxA

Also regarding Tony, his daughter Jianni shared a pic of him recently. Gosh he'll be 50 next year too. So much time really has passed since Jayne left us.

Regarding Jayne Maries father it is Paul Mansfield. One they resemble each other and two the story goes Jayne thought she was pregnant and eloped with Paul Mansfield at the end of January 1950. Jayne Marie was born in November 1950. Jayne would have had to have been pregnant at least 11 months if that story was true. Simple maths tells the truth in this case.

Zoltan has turned up on a couple of Documentaries about his Mum but the other two keep a very low profile.

I am amazed at the amount of speculation of the paternity of Jayne Marie and Mariska. Mariska still cries whenever she speaks of Mickey, and I think if she had found out that he wasn't her "real dad" there would be less emotion tied to him. But that's just me. Notice that Sardelli never even brought up Mariska until she hit it big? Yeah, I'm sure there are loads of folks who'd claim to be her bio father then. And Jayne Marie was born well after her parents were married.

As for Mariska not being a copy of Jayne, take a look at this pic: The only thing different is the tip of her nose, her jaw and lips, which all match Mickey perfectly.

I loved looking at Jayne's pink luggage in Scott's office, all scratched up from the accident. He has a very cool collection.

I think it speaks volumes about Ms Loren that she won't autograph copies of that photo out of respect for Jayne. Classy.

They really are. They are so beautiful. I wonder if Jayne would have aged as well as Sophia.

I have my doubts - she was on a hard circuit those last years; but you never know. She was stunning back in the day though.

There are 2 books about Jayne, one by May Mann who was supposedly a close friend of hers. She says in her book that Jayne said to her that Nelson (Sardelli ) has got to meet Mariska. The other book by Martha Sexton also brings up paternity, saying most sources agreed that the baby was Sardelli's. Both books were written in the early 70's long before Mariska was a star. Mickey raised her with the boys, so even if he is not her bio father, it's the only one she has ever known.

I know we have had this thread going for years, but I wonder what happened to her oldest daughter? I also wonder what kind of relationship she has had with her siblings...

Jayne Marie Mansfield in the 70s she posed for playboy, she became the first daughter of a Playmate to be a featured model.[citation needed] To date, only one other daughter of a Playmate has been featured in the magazine. Additionally, she is the only model who was featured as 100 Beautiful Women along with her mother in the magazine's 1988 special issue. She has acted in the film Olly, Olly, Oxen Free (1978) and TV production Blond in Hollywood (2003).
She accused Sam Brody, two weeks before her mother's death of beating her, she was 16 at the time, but in the photo above of the funeral, one source says that is her and another source says that is Mariska. (this info according to wiki)

    Jayne Marie with Mariska.
wow Mariska looks like her mother, this is a side by side comparison.

50th Deathiversary for Jayne. I recently heard online an interview of Mamie Van Doren, and she had only the best things to say about Jayne and her family, also the background details behind George Harrison's tossing a drink at Mamie, etc. Mamie should go on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast, it'd be a great chance to talk (with very limited commercial interruption) about her own career and how special Jayne was, etc. Another chance for the public to know more about Jayne, and to remember her, other than for her tragic death.

June 29th 1967, I was graduating from grade 7 when I heard the news on the radio that morning. I guess it was my first celebrity death and was intrigued by it. My friends and I had seen her in A Guide For The Married Man a couple of months before, and when she came on screen we were like WOW! Bless you Jayne.

TCM recently aired Sophia Loren being interviewed by her son. They briefly mentioned "that" photo and Sophia said that she was "Technically interested" in how those little straps were holding Jayne up and didn't break; also that a lot of her fan mail/signature requests include that photo and that she never signs it, out of respect for Jayne.

Here is some video/pics I have never seen before. It looks like the left side of her body sustained the most trauma from the impact.
