    Alex Jordan (Karen Elizabeth Mereness)

Alex Jordan (born Karen Elizabeth Mereness on September 20, 1963; died July 2, 1995) was a porn film actress. She won the 1993 AVN Awards for "Best New Starlet".[1]

Jordan entered the adult business in 1992, answering an ad for a nude model. She was one of the first female pioneers of the gonzo porn sub-genre, which involved her making videos with non-professional amateur actors. She was fairly well received by porn fans, but never as a lead actress. Her most notable performances usually involved lesbian scenes.

A few months before Alex Jordan (Karen Elizabeth Hughes) hung herself, Cinema Blue headlined an interview with her "Alex Jordan's... f---ing her brains out on screen and loving every minute of it!"

Alex appeared one of the better adjusted female performers - at least while she was on anti-depressants which she quit several months prior to her suicide. Many, if not most female performers, especially when compared to the men, complain constantly about the biz.

Bill Margold discovered and named Alex Jordan and she was the first and only one of his "kids" to commit suicide.

Alex described herself as a true romantic. "While I'm into kinky sex, I like it to be done in romantic surroundings. I may give my husband an underwater blow job, but it'll be done in our own pretty pink bathroom with two glasses of champagne resting on the tub."
Alex married Justin Case on video in Las Vegas. Justin also does porn. On their wedding, both of them performed "like gangbusters.

"It's one thing to share your wedding night with your husband. But it's a total turn-on knowing that every nasty thing we did was being captured on videotape.
"My folks knew that someone was taping our wedding and they asked us for a copy. Naturally they didn't know that the last bit on the tape features Justin and I f---ing our brains out. We had to get a specially edited version made up for them - with the tail end, so to speak, edited out!

Karen aged quickly in the fast lane of porn. In June 1995, she became lonely when her husband went to Colorado to try to set up a ski shop so they could leave porn. She'd suffered from depression all her life, and now she'd gone months without medication.

Jordan's best friend was her parrot, and when it died, she went crazy. Speaking on the telephone to her husband, she accused him of not caring about her. His crime? Lack of sensitivity to her feelings about her bird's death. She wrote a note describing her depression over the loss of her bird, and on the 27th of June, Alex hung herself in her closet.

On July 2nd, Alex's friend Summer Knight, a fellow porn performer, made a call to the police saying that Alex was missing. They broke into Alex's Marina Del Rey apartment. The first person to open Jordan's closet was Summer, who smelled something funny. She saw her friend's decomposing body hanging there.

"The decedent was fully clothed," said the coroner's report, "cold to the touch and in early maroon and green mottled decomposition. She was fully suspended by a rope ligature about her neck which was tied neatly about a clothing hanger bar."
Police found a variety of drugs in Alex's apartment and a suicide note that said Alex was distraught over the death of her bird and that she wanted the world to know that she was leaving everything to her husband.

The funniest thing is when they win an AVN award and thank their parents, or "my Lord and saviour Jesus Christ".

Wikipedia says 1963, LukeIsBack (a porn gossip site) says she was born in 1967. I just looked her up in the Social Security death index, and it says she was born September 20, 1963.

Wow I have heard about people being in attached to their pet's, but that is taking things to the extreme surely.
I wonder why she went off her pills? Probably not the best move she could have made.

Eh, you've seen one decomp, you've seen 'em all...

Hanging decomps are a little better because they are not all mushed into the bed or the couch and the floor is not slippery with goo usually. The tounge protruding in some decomps always bothers me. It protrudes in most hangings as well.

I digress though. I remember this story. Sad that the bird meant so much to her. I had a pet parrot that died and I miss him but not enough to hang myself.

Well I mean it's not the most serious suicide story... sad as it all is in the end, it does has some elements of comedy mixed in with the tragedy.

Kinda OT, but I started wondering about people who commit suicide by hanging - how good are they at knot tying? I just went to a website that shows a whole bunch of different "hangman's knots", such as the simple noose, the strangle snare, the gallows knot, etc. Now, I believe I'm a pretty smart person, but the knots look really complicated, and I'd probably get so frustrated trying to tie the damn thing, I'd have to find another way to off myself!

    Any thoughts?

I don't think you really need a knot - you could just loop & jump.

Most of the suicide by hanging that I have investigated have very simple knots if any knots at all. Very few use rope. Most use extension cords, bathrobe ties, belts or something around the house. I think I have only been on two or three hangings where rope was used. A lot of people think you have to actually be suspended or hanging many feet off the ground. We have also found people on their knees dead from hanging.

OT but isn't it a little 'odd' to find an old VHS of a deceased porn star that you have whacked off to? I mean they seem to come in spades, so why watch porn when you will just feel bad when someone kills themself or dies?

People hang themselves; pictures are hung.
'He was found hanging from the rafters in their attic.'
