Yeah, his character, ol' Sonny Butts, was a rip-roaring asshole. But what a memorable death he got ... I was but a young, easily shocked, baby Death Hag when I saw that (maybe 14?) and I will never forget Foxy Funderburke's burying Sonny. Still on his motorcycle. Daaaamn.

I can't remember how young I was - pretty young though. Foxy scared the crap outta me!! There is a thread around here somewhere where several posters are nuts over Keith Carradine but all I can htink about when I see him is Foxy Funderburke! LOL

LOL I totally forgot Charlton Heston was in it!! Hahaaaa

OHEMGEE 1983!? I was 8 years old. I have seen it since then, but it's been a loooong time. There are a few characters that stick out to me. Billy Dee Williams (I cried when he & Billy Lee talk by the fence & he revelas who he is. I tear up just thinking about it!) and Tess Harper. I so want to see it again!

Not My Will by Francena Arnold. It was written sometime in the 40s or there about and has never been out of print. It's a Christian novel, about a young woman who learns by tragedy to deny herself and do God's will. It's one of the best stories I ever read. My late aunt, who was not a Christian, even loved it. You can find it on amazon.com and alibris.com if you're interested.

'Chiefs', they have the entire series out there for purchase. It's deplorable some stuff they have out on television now--and when I say deplorable, I mean unwatchable; they should bring it out the vault and show it again.

Ha! Yeah, I definitely think Keith's attractive, but at the same time there's something faint in the back of my head that shudders at the memory of Foxy whenever I look at him.

Foxy was one scary SOB. I only saw that miniseries once, and have had a devil of a time trying to find it online (affordably). I'd love to see it again. I have read the book, and that is terrific.

I remember that scene with Billy Dee Williams too.

Thank you for the kind words. He was, if my earliest memory is correct, my first male crush, Elizabeth Montgomery being my first female crush when I was very young.

Also, when you read his story it was tragic. His wife didn't mince words, he was a jerk but then he was a victim of abuse, sexual and otherwise. The odds were stacked against him.

Also, he reminds me of my best friend who was also abused, so
