Six Degrees distribution plans

Here's an update from our new distributor. In addition to continuing to run on Amazon, on October 6th The Six Degrees of Helter Skelter DVD will be available in Best Buy, Walmart, Tower Video, and on iTunes.

Soon after, it will be on PPV on Time Warner, Cox, Dish/Echostar and Brighthouse.

Obviously, we're pretty impressed with our distributor, Echo Bridge Entertainment. They also picked up the first Dearly Departed film, but I don't think they have any big plans for it.

Most of you here already have the film, and your copy will basically become a "limited edition" version (1 of about 1,600) because our distributor has changed the artwork. We've also added an epilogue about the recent Barker Ranch fire -- right before the end credits -- and updated a few pieces of voice-over after some minor discrepancies were pointed out to us, and swapped out a few photographs.

Basically, between now and October 6th, the original DVD will cease to be available for purchase, replaced by the slightly-updated new version.

Picked up Six Degrees of Helter Skelter ... at Wal Mart

Not sure if any of you guys have noticed this, but Wal Mart's selling the Six Degrees of Helter Skelter with some movie called The Boneyard for $5! I'm loving it so far.

Very good find!

You'd be surprised what you can find in the WalMart 5 dollar bins and racks. Always good finds if your patient.

I just rented this title on Comcast On Demand tonight for $4.99! It's SO interesting thus far as I'm extremely interested in the Manson Family and Helter Skelter. It's interesting to be able to see all of the locations discussed in the book.

Our Best Buy has it coming on Tuesday.

Guess who's going to be right there on Tuesday, waiting to get her copy?

I just watched this courtesy of Netflix and it is excellent! A definite must see for anyone even slightly interested in the case. I didn't know Scott appears throughout the film. I hated for it to end and I can't say that about too many films. A job well done guys!!!

I'm pretty sure the version that's at Walmart is the full-screen, no-frills version. I haven't seen it yet, in person, so I'm not positive, but that would explain why the price is like 60% less at Walmart.

The version available at Best Buy on Tuesday should be the widescreen version with all of the extras, etc. That's probably why there's a price difference.

That's a good point. A lot of those in the cheap bins are full screen dvd's that nobody buys.

Considering I hate full-screen on DVD? I'm more than happy to buy the version available at Best Buy on Tuesday. MORE than happy. I WANT the widescreen version, I WANT the extras, and so on. No cheapie version for me, thanks!

Got mine today at Best Buy!

It was just as chilling and fascinating in my family room as it was at the Temecula Valley International Film Festival.

The new DVD (the one with Manson's face on the cover) is probably higher-resolution than our original release. This is because they're probably printing on dual-layer disks, whereas we were limited to single-layer disks. Without getting too tech-y, dual layer DVDs mean you can fit more data (8.5 GB instead of 4.7 GB), which means the film on the new DVD has as much as 40% more resolution than the version we originally released.

We have a version of the film in HD, so who knows -- maybe they'll put out a Blu Ray one of these days.

I'd consider rebuying it if it were on Blu Ray.
