Now it's 8-4, just took Lee out. He was awesome. I'm glad we got those extra runs and I won't be comfortable until it's over.

Poor Victorino - he wants to play so bad and Charlie took him out. He is NOT happy!

And I believe he would have made that throw to home plate that was just off...damnit!

Pettitte and Sabathia will both be pitching on 3 days' rest, let's hope it catches up to them.

There are a whole lot of Met's fans really rooting for the Phillies myself included.
I can switch allegience to the Giants when they Jets lose out in the playoffs and even support the Rangers over the Islanders but no way can I ever root for the Yankees. We all have our limits.

Mary

I love the anthem part. Americans are very cute that way, with that patriotism thing

Now, getting back to the game. I have a very bad feeeling, Barb, that this night could be our comeuppance.

On the other hand, if we can pull this off, we'll win the Series.

Yep. I didn't listen to the anthem. I can't handle when people 'make it their own'. Sing it like it's meant to be sung. I actually muted it. lol...

In the meantime, did ya notice how Joe Buck shut up so we could all hear "Who's your Daddy?" and how he had a fit when OUR catcher went to talk to OUR pitcher. It was okay when the Yankees did it all game two games ago.

I know I'll be muting this soon...lol!

Pedro's got his good stuff. I'm feeling okay. We'll see. I'm worried about the bullpen.

They need to get out of this inning with no run -- only down by 1 and it's still early. Hopeful...

Looks like the Yankees are going to win it. I'm not really against either team, I just like watching the series. I guess I root for the underdog which is usually whoever is playing NYY. They've already won it so much. But I like Jeter and Matsui. Matsui should definitely get MVP.

Couple questions for you who watch all year. Why was the big deal made over the NYY pitcher that came in last inning. He also ran to the mound from a door in the outfield. Why is he special?

Also, did I miss the singing of God Bless America? Don't they have a celeb sing it during the 7th inning stretch anymore. Thanks!

I hate the Yankmees too. I had no desire to watch the WS just because they were in it. I don't have a lot of respect for a team that steals every one elses talent.

Yankees win. What the fuck ever, yawwwwwwn! Most expensive team on the planet, but not always the best team. I don't understand the big market team thing. Sure, NYC has 10 million people, but that leaves 290 million people who don't give a flyer about whether they win or lose. It's been a good season, though, I've enjoyed following the hapless Padres much more than the world champion Yankees.

I didn't realize it had been that many years since the Yankees won. Huh.

Jeter sounded a little full of himself just now. I don't remember him being that way before when I have heard him interviewed. I like teams/people who are humble when they win big and at least try to praise the team they beat for a good game. Disappointed in him but most of the rest of they guys seemed cool. Not really bragging, just happy.

I was shocked Masui had a translator. Surely he can speak & understand English by now. You think it was for the benefit of his fans back in Japan? I noticed the announcers kept saying what time it was there, etc.

I learn a lot on these boards. Re: the comments above, is that the reason the Yankees always seem to have a good team and win so much? Do they go after the talent on other teams and lure them with money? If so, I can see why some many dislike them.

Anyway, I love baseball and enjoyed watching this year.

It is interesting that the Japanese players in MLB don't speak better English. I believe it's taught extensively in Japanese schools. A few years back I worked with colleagues from Japan. They were very good with written English, but when we first started working with them their spoken English was not very good. After about 6 months time, though, their spoken English improved immensely.
