I thought this was a very well put together piece of work. Michael didn't look any skinnier than he normally does, he didn't look or act sick, his voice was spot on. He had a fabulous voice! No wonder he protected it so much. This was a brilliant piece of work. Parts made me smile and parts made me tear up, like Human Nature, Earth Song, Billie Jean... (BTW, nobody can wear a Balmain jacket like Michael, nobody.) Prior to going to the theater, I was watching The View... one of them brought up the movie, so a discussion ensued. A comment was made about how was it possible Michael could perform and look like he did in the movie, then leave the stage and need to be pumped full of drugs. The response was something similar to the life of Judy Garland... the stage tends to mask the problems. There were about 20 people in the theater at noon on a Wednesday. All but 6 left after the credits started rolling. I guess we were the internet geeks who wanted to see the "easter egg." I went out and picked up the commemorative CD set after the movie. Sure hope this goes to DVD.

I saw This is It tonight, he was amazing. Utterly amazing. Not at all the fragile shell the media portrayed. It made me happy to feel so close to his creative process, and extremely pissed off that he's dead due to the negligence of another.

I hope we do get the autopsy photo, I am very curious, though I might be a little freaked out.
Speaking of freaked out, WTF is up with that picture in middle of that story of the masked MJ fan with Lionel Richie. That is just creepy. ewwww, I might have nightmares.

This is a fact I wish the people calling him a junkie would consider. He didn't do drugs to get high, he did them because (as I've heard him explain it) it was so hard to come off the stage with all that adrenaline and calm down to rest. He got to where he was barely sleeping, if at all and felt that was the only way for him to get the rest he needed to put on his "perfect" show again the next night. I can understand that completely. |

Wonder what other rock stars do to wind down when they come off stage, obviously not rock stars like Keith Richards or Axl Rose, we know what they do. It's an interesting dilema. I walked away from the movie feeling like he probably met with a similar fate as Heath Ledger. I don't think Michael's death was intentional at all, just a sad and unfortunate set of circumstances. It wasn't exactly easy to watch the movie after everything. In fact, I've been kind of sad all day. Yet, for some reason, I really want to own the DVD. Must be the magic.

I guess this was a worldwide simultaneous release, because it came out here last night too. I quoted your post bettie because Lionel Richie made a surprise guest appearance for the Tokyo premiere.

That's the thing I noticed most while watching this. Let me state for the record: i am not a die hard fan, I like the classics but was never really a follower of M.J. I was (like many of us) completely creep-ed out by his public persona once the child molestation charges were brought against him. In every interview he seemed completely bizarre and a bit off his rocker, I.M.O.. A friend of mine bought This is It tickets in advance and asked my husband and I to go, we had nothing planned and were not too thrilled but took him up on his offer.
Now after watching it my opinion has completely changed. We always knew he was a talented artist but watching him in his natural environment really uncovered a whole other side. He wasn't using the soft, childlike voice while taking to others and he was SO appreciative and kind to everyone. If he hadn't passed away would we have still seen the rehearsals and given the poor guy the benefit of the doubt? I don't think so. His death didn't affect me at all before seeing this and now my heart truly breaks for his family. A void was left and will never be filled.

I know what you mean. I was very nervous about seeing the movie. I still get upset watching all the specials on tv, not because I'm obsessed but because I know how hard it must be for his family and the kids. He was just so special and, although I know it sounds crazy, the world feels different without his spirit and love for everything and everyone. There will never be anyone like him again. But yeah, I was nervous but I knew I would regret not seeing it in theaters and I'm glad I went. It was so good and it wasn't as sad as I thought. For a while I even forgot he was gone and it was like sitting at home watching my dvds or something. I feel like I have closure now. You really should see it.

We played the "This is It" CD while handing out candy. It was tempting to push Repeat on Thriller, but... not for 3 hours straight.
The best comment of the night came from a young boy about 9 years old... he thanked me for the candy and then stood square in front of the open door and put his thumb way up in the air and exclaimed "ROCK ON Michael!!" I gave him a "whoo hooo oohh" like in "The Way You Make Me Feel." It was fun, but that mask was HOT! I think most people weren't sure what I was supposed to be... hard to look too much like MJ when you're 5'2" and overweight... LOL!! ![]()

We had a small group of Trick-or-Treaters that were dressed like MJ. I didn't see them myself but my mom did, and she said there was a black 12-14 year old kid who she swore looked EXACTLY like Thriller-era Michael. Had the fedora and everything. Kinda wish I could've seen that but oh well... |

I actually saw This is It on friday, and I thought it was great. Not only was he a hell of an entertainer, he was a really nice guy to the people he worked with. I will say that there were times that I thought he might be on something *most of the times I thought that was when he was wearing sunglasses while inside or talking to someone.)
I was sad to see how frail he looked, especially in those baggy pajama pants. My mom said that had MJ decided to just do this in Vegas for like, a year, he probably would have made sooooo much money that he could have repaid each debt twice over.

I went and saw This is It this past weekend. I was surprised, there were not 30 people at the showing.
I thought it was good and that Michael really was a kind person. He knew how he wanted things and when he asked for a change, he always said please, thank you, I love you, this is out of love. I was also touched at how he told his back up singer "this is your moment to shine, I'm just here to support you, its your time" I personally would not call him a genious, but he was very very talented. For saving his voice for the concert, he still had it and he was dancing all around. Sure didn't look like a strung out junkie to me. He was thin, but he never was a stocky man to begin with. The only time I though he looked downright bad was when he did the press conference announcing this concert. His face was drawn then. I am reading they are extending the showing until Thanksgiving now. |

I would love to have the musical genius that he had. I WISH I was even a fraction as musical as he was, but I'm not. I respect his musical brain! He was a weirdo of a person sometimes, but that doesn't personally matter to me since I view musical talent as one of the greatest gifts a person can have. |

After dominating record sales for four months, Michael Jackson is finally at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart. “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” the companion album to the new movie — Epic, the label, is being careful not to call it a soundtrack, since it is mostly made up of old hits — sold 373,100 copies in the United States last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Although Jackson has sold more than 5.6 million albums since his death in June, most of those titles have been too old to count on the Billboard 200, the standard album chart. But “This Is It” is a new title, and it becomes Jackson’s sixth No. 1; the film was the top box office draw last week, taking in $32.5 million in its first five days in the United States. |

aawww.... WAY TO GO MJ!!!
Can't wait until the DVD comes out. I could watch it 1,000 times. I was never a huge fan, but always loved his hits. Sorry it took this situation to realize how gifted he was. I've been a music lover for as long as I could walk. Not that I've examined every musician's talent ever listened to, but I've heard plenty of demos and rough cuts over the years... MJ is a definite stand out. He had a gift, there's not doubt. |

Just had to share this with you all...
http://sky1.sky.com/derek-acorah-to-...ichael-jackson This TV Extravaganza (!) was shown last night on Sky 1 in the UK (anyone over here who missed it - it's being repeated tonight on Sky 2) ...bearing in mind this is the same channel who show Lost, House, The Simpsons, Modern Family, Bones and tons of really amazing shows....and they stoop to this!!! For anyone that has never heard of Derek Acorah, he is an over excitable Scouser who claims to be a medium. Claims being the operative word...he once saw the spirits of Washing Machine's and is famous for becoming possessed and yelling 'Mary Loves Dick!' ...lucky Mary!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uD0d...eature=related Mary Loves Dick...Mary Loves Dick....priceless!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeQ0a3WfZ7g That's the BBC carrying out a sting on Derek!
