any fans of Split Lip Rayfield ??? this may be a stretch...as they are not "widely" known. but they have a huge underground following among fans of bluegrass and insurgent/alt country.
Kirk Rundstrom was their guitarist/vocalist. he died this past February from esophageal cancer.
he was an amazing guitarist and had one of the most amazing and powerful stage presenses of anyone i've had the pleasure of seeing live. and i've seen them live many times, since they come from my hometown, Wichita, KS.
he left behind a wife and two beautiful daughters.
Split Lip Rayfield has just begun playing shows again and i saw them last month at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival. they even had a beautiful tribute to Kirk on Stage 7 with bands doing his songs or songs they wrote about Kirk.
any fans? anyone?
